About Ozakaya

OZAKAYA Our restaurant name is inspired by two Japanese words: OSAKA & IZAKAYA Chef Takahiro Sano (born and raised in Osaka), driven by strong curiosity and great passion, pursued his dream as head chef when moving to New York City. He started his journey as a front of house staff and climbed the ranks of server, bartender, and captain. Later on, Sano received an opportunity to work at Yoppari, a fine-dining Japanese restaurant located on Clinton St., where he met his mentor, Chef Junya. Sano, under meticulous guidance, trained on the intricate Japanese cooking techniques bestowed upon him. Born from the chef's passion and love of cooking, OZAKAYA aims to be a fresh dining experience providing the Finest flavor you can get.

Probably my most visited restaurant! They have special menu that’s seasonal! And this summer their Matcha Cold Soba and Yuzu sherbet is a must have!! The drinks were all also so good and pretty! I literally went twice within one week! Our waiter, Lita, was also amazing! Took picture for us to celebrate my friend’s birthday and her first outing since giving birth to her baby!

Fourth time here and still obsessed. Love that they switch it up with a seasonal menu so there’s always something new to try! We ordered most of the summer menu this round and loved every dish. All were super refreshing, quality is on point, and portions are generous👍🏻👍🏻 And major shoutout to our server, Ploy! She was amazing, super attentive, and took really good care of us. She helped us pick our order and we loved every single thing she recommended!! 😀 Here’s what we got: salmon ceviche, uni scallop ceviche, yakiniku don, temaki set, sashimi tasting, yuzu sorbet for dessert. For drinks, you HAVE to get the frozen asahi and the yuzu aperol spritz 👌🏻Really good. I chugged the entire glass. (Ploy rec, obviously. Thank you again!)

The food was amazing! This was probably better than most omakase places I ever went to. I ordered a donburi set, tan tan ramen, and the 10 piece sushi plate. The donburi set was very delicious, the tan tan ramen was also very good. Although the sushi plate was a bit pricey, everything tasted very fresh. (I made a reservation the day I went)

The Wagyu Kami Nabe, Donburi Set, and Unagi Don were all absolutely delicious. Every dish was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and definitely worth the price. The food was so authentic that it felt like we were having a meal in Japan. Our server, Lita, was wonderful. She was very sweet, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. Her great service made our experience even more enjoyable.Amazing food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere.

Best Japanese we’ve had in NYC! The miso black cod appetizer was excellent. Also ordered a donburi entree to share as an app which we loved. An amazing stop before we saw a show at Barclays which is just a walk away!
